Recently, Apple updated its MFi (Made-for-iPhone/iPad/iPod) licensing program to include USB-C port and Lightning to 3.5mm patch cord.
With the release of new specifications, accessory manufacturers will be able to include USB-C ports in MFi-certified charging accessories designed for iOS and Mac, which will be able to use the USB-C cable that comes with the new Mac.
We know that third-party MFi accessories allow Lightning's "passthrough charging" (charge charging can charge the device while charging itself), but the new standard has not allowed the USB-C port to do this, and it can't Used to sync iOS devices. Apple's documentation indicates that speakers and battery packs can be charged using the USB-C port.
As for the Lightning to 3.5mm patch cord, it is designed to allow users to connect to the 3.5mm input using the Lightning port on the iOS device, which was previously only possible with an adapter.
Apple recently also modified its MFi logo, introducing support for San Francisco fonts and replacing device icons with standard Apple Logos.
