Characteristics of a new fiber optic PH meter and its application in determining the pH value in tissue
pHOpticaTM is a system that combines the measurement of pH with a micro-optical sensor and patented DLR technology, which uses a single contact to perform measurements that require a reference electrode.
Features of the pHOptica meter:
- It is a single channel, compact, easy to move, PH meter with small fiber optic sensor.
- With electronic isolation, two 12-bit, programmable analog outputs.
- An external source trigger input interface with electronic isolation.
- Operation requires a computer with an RS232 interface.
- User-friendly software operator interface and measurement value viewing device.
- The computer can connect several pHOptica meters at the same time.
- A temperature sensor can be used to record changes in temperature.
Features of pH Optical Sensor:
- No reference electrode required
- Insensitive to electrical and magnetic interference
- Small floating range
- High spatial resolution due to small tip
- Can measure small volumes of samples
- Additional sensor tip optical isolation can be provided for measurement of colored samples and active samples with light synthesis
application
The application areas of pHOptica include:
- Puncture or insertion of living tissue for PH measurement (eg heart, muscle or animal blood vessels)
- Insert pH into the soil
- Implanted in a custom-made frame for measurement
To prevent damage to the tip of the small glass fiber, manufacturers often design appropriate frames or tubing to protect it, depending on your application.
The pin frame sensor ( 502123 ) frames the fiber optic in an 18G stainless steel needle tube that must protrude through the diaphragm during measurement.
The implantable sensor ( 502124 ) has no frame and can be inserted into the animal's blood circulation or soil. Use this flexible design to create your own frame to meet your experimental needs.
Microelectrode characteristics
- Tip size 140μm
- 2000 measurements only float 0.1pH units (16 hours measurement in 30 second data update mode)
