Revenue from fiber optic cable installation market will increase to US$5.5 billion by 2016

According to the latest report from market research firm IBISWorld, the global fiber installation market will continue to maintain its growth momentum in the next five years. By 2016, optical cable installation revenue will increase to an average of 5.5 billion U.S. dollars per year. IBISWorld believes that mobile backhaul and broadband applications will drive this growth in the field of optical cable installation.
IBISWorld stated that the upcoming growth of the cable installation market will be based on the success of the past five years, and this 2011 market revenue will increase by 2.8% to US$4.3 billion. In the company's view, the main factors contributing to this increase are broadband demand based on enterprise services and mobile backhaul and increasing data transmission rate requirements. IBISWorld, on the basis of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), pointed out that in the past few years of economic turmoil in the United States, the cable installation market has continued to buck the trend. IBISWorld said that the U.S. broadband stimulus plan and wireless network upgrade project helped its cable installation industry revenue increase by 3.5% from 2010 to 2011.
IBISWorld analyst Justin Molavi believes that the cable installation industry should become even more successful in the next five years. He said that consumers' constant demand for high-speed Internet has given rise to a wide range of upgrades in wireless network services and the growth of mobile devices, which in turn will likely accelerate the strong rise in optical cable installation over the next five years.
